I’m appreciating this perspective as I have learned over time that it is representative of how many in the Latino/Latina/Latinx community feel about it. Particularly, our families in Latin America.

I do question myself regularly though. I still use “Latino” when talking about the community as a whole (a terribly hard habit to break) and I use Latinx when discussing that community in particular. I feel like it’s proper in that it specifies the Latinx community when it should while still allowing for addressing the community at large.

But I could be wrong.
