I’ve never taken social media seriously until I was doxxed and my family was threatened. Luckily, disaster was averted but it was scary nonetheless.

I’m too focused on what’s happening to people in the real world anyway. That’s where the inspiration for most of my articles about politics, race, and social justice comes from.

I also don’t doubt that I would have seen more success, even if marginal, if I was more public about my personal life. Taking everything into consideration, it’s just not worth it to me. Not now anyway.

All of that being said, I could lose all of my social media accounts tomorrow and it wouldn’t bother me. At least I don’t think it will. Even if it did, I seriously doubt I’d be heartbroken enough to publicly freak out like this.

But I feel bad for her. For some people, social media is all they have. I know, because after surviving a stroke, it’s all I had for 2–1/2 years. It literally saved my life by allowing me to meet people who inspired me to fight to get my life back.

No matter how happy someone may seem, they too have everyday struggles no one knows about. We must always keep this in mind.
