This was such a great piece for me. Turns out we grew up right by each other. I’m a little younger than you, but I came into the hardcore scene as it was being born. I was very close with Roger and Agnostic Front and still am. I too was a skater, with a mohawk and I still sport one to this day. I will certainly never forget all the great times at CB!
I also still skate and my 3 sons skate as well. Back in the day, we skated Washington Square Park and the Brooklyn Banks primarily.
This piece certainly took me back 25 years or more. And in reading this I realized we essentially had the same lifestyle. I was a member of the SHARP movement (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice), and I am now a leader of said movement. Back then, we exercised back-alley justice against the Nazi (seek-help) skinheads. Man how things change as you get older and have kids…
One thing that will never change is the Anti-Establishment movement and the fight for justice. Only now, instead of throwing rocks at the establishment in protest, I am now in the government buildings fighting for the same morals and equal rights we have all fought for during the last 30+ years. I do it with a community Think-Tank that I founded eight years ago.
Stay true to the life brother, there are millions of us with you and we will never give up! We haven’t hanged much either. #SoulBrother

Thank you for this piece! I know so many that will love to read this! We have all kept in touch, and this will mean a lot to all of them.
If your down for it, hit me up sometime. We can talk about all those crazy days. Getting our asses kicked and kicking ass too!
FYI: You and I shared some of the same connections on the Lower East Side.
